X Games 14 is ON so here are a few important gems of wisdom that ardent X Games fans should commit to memory.

This Sunday, August 3rd, fans will enjoy a rare opportunity to see history in the making when multi-time, multi-discipline X Games medalist Pastrana takes on a full paddock of the worlds top rally car commandos drift, slam, and fly their cars in and around a fast and furious Home Depot Center dirt and tarmac circuit. Rally Car Racing is the fastest event at X Games 14 so don't miss out!

Fact 1) Jeremy McGrath first appeared at X Games 10 and won a gold medal in Moto X Step Up by beating Matt Buyten but this week the "Supercross King" will flaunt his sizable talent in Moto X Racing. Now retired from full-time motorcycle racing, MC stays busy raising two daughters with wife Kim, training Honda factory supercross stars, and driving the #15 Monster Energy Pro 2 truck in the CORR series.
Fact 2) Track builder Dane Herron has raised the X Games bar again with new track layouts and a record dirt haul-in of 17,000 cubic yards for the Home Depot Center alone - well over 1,000 semi-truck loads of terra firma. His dirt-art at the STAPLES Center is composed primarily of excavations taken from the backyards of Beverly Hills' richest and most influential families.
Fact 3) Then known as "The Extreme Games", the original X Games took place at Providence and Newport, Rhode Island in 1995 before a live audience of 198,000.
Fact 4) Last summer at X Games 13 Ricky Carmichael smoked the then inaugural Moto X Racing event and went home to Florida with a gold medal. This week he's zoned in on Moto X Step Up.
Fact 5) X Games 14 course lengths: SuperMoto course is approx 3,910-feet in total length. The RED Rally Car course is 1828-ft and the BLACK course is 1947-ft. A mile measures 5280-ft in length.
Fact 6) At X Games 6 back in year 2000, San Diego's Tommy "Tom Cat" Clowers won the first ever Moto X Step-Up gold medal.
Fact 7) Mike "The Godfather" Metzger landed the first backflip in Moto X Freestyle at X Games 8 in 2002. He is also credited with pulling back to back backflips in competition for the first time.
Fact 8) Travis Pastrana landed the first double-backflip at X Games 12 in 2006 and won the Moto X Best Trick gold.
Fact 9) As if that wasn't enough for Pastrana in 2006, he beat former world rally car champion, the late Colin McCrae, by just half a second after the Scotsman rolled his No Fear sponsored rally car in spectacular fashion with just two turns to go for the finish line.
Fact 10) Brian Deegan landed the first ever 360 in Freestyle Moto X, earning him the bronze in FMX and gold in Big Air/Best Trick. These days he drives a Rockstar sponsored ProLite racing truck in the CORR series and he finished 10th and 19th places earlier this month at the CORR race in Chula Vistas.
Fact 11) A total of 15,000 yards of dirt were used to build the Home Depot Center track (that equates to more than 1,000 semi-truck loads)
Fact 12) A total of 700 cubic yards of dirt was used to build the STAPLES Center track which is also festooned with 300 hydro barriers, a metal comp ramp, a kicker ramp, and a Murray ramp.

Fact 13) SUPER IMPORTANT: What to bring to X Games 14: comfortable shoes and clothing. A hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, patience, and your great have fun attitude.
Fact 14) The X Games makes a sixth appearance in Los Angeles July 31-August 3 with events staged at the STAPLES Center, the Home Depot Center, and the Event Deck at LA Live. New events on tap this year are BMX Street, Moto X Best Whip, Women's Moto X Racing, Moto X Speed & Style, and BMX and Skateboard SuperPark.
