HUSQVARNA MAKING ITS "MARQUE" AGAIN IN AMA ENDURO RACING
Glenn Kearney Returns To The Woods

Glenn KearneyFebruary 24, 2010 - Woodcliff Lake, NJ - Hard to believe that it has been a decade since Team Husqvarna last raced an AMA National Enduro, but the venerable brand is back in the woods to celebrate both 50 years of race-winning heritage and being named 2010 "Marque Of The Year" at the AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days, set for July 9-11 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio. Team Husqvarna's woods racing specialist Glenn Kearney has even shifted his focus from GNCC competition to contest the 2010 Rekluse/AMA National Enduro Series and finished a fine 5th at Cherokee Enduro in Greensboro, Georgia this past weekend.

"I'm still getting used to this type of racing," admits Kearney, who grew up racing in the Australian outback. "The trees are a lot closer together here," he laughs. The Cherokee was Round #2 of the AMA series and only Kearney's third American Enduro race ever! However Glenn is the four-time Australian Enduro Champion and he did win the 56th running of the Little Brown Jug Enduro last fall, but he readily admits he still has a lot to learn about the nuances of the American series.

Compared to the miserable conditions at the season opener in South Carolina, Kearney found the Georgia clay much more to his liking. "Temperatures were in the 60s and it was prefect for racing. My TXC 250 was hooking up great all day! My only problem was a couple of local Georgia boys racing in what is essentially their own backyard." Last season's broken ankle is finally a thing of the past now that the plates and screws have been removed. "There is a lot less pain and my level of fitness is back, so it is all good!"

Glenn had been shooting for a top-five finish in the first round, but the poor conditions saw him finish 6th in South Carolina aboard his Ben Kearney-prepped race bike. "I carried that top five goal over to round #2 and succeeded, so do you reckon I shoot for a podium spot next week in Florida?".
